We are thrilled to announce our participation in the Oceania Tango Congress & Championship, the official Argentine Tango Dance Preliminary for the Oceania Region. This prestigious event will take place in the City of Sails, Auckland, New Zealand, in April 2024.

About the Oceania Tango Congress & Championship

The Oceania Tango Congress & Championship (OTCC) is an official preliminary event for the world-renowned Tango BA Festival and Dance World Cup, held annually in Argentina. The Tango BA Festival is the pinnacle event for tango dancers globally, showcasing competitors from around the world, incredible tango orchestras and performances by famous maestros. It is widely regarded as the most vibrant and impressive tango event in the world.

Our Journey to the Tango BA Festival and Dance World Cup

Oceania Tango Limited (OTCC) is the sanctioned organisation responsible for the preliminary rounds in the Oceania Region for the Tango BA Festival & Dance World Cup. This annual event is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, the governing body for the festival’s organisation, program planning, and overall execution. All entrants in the competition must adhere to the rules and regulations set by this governing body.

Competing at the Highest Level

OTCC offers all competing couples the chance to shine at the highest level of competition. Our performance will be judged by an official jury panel comprising internationally renowned professionals approved by the Tango BA Dance World Cup organizers and the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires. This prestigious panel ensures that the competition remains of the highest standard.

Path to the Finals in Buenos Aires

The winners of the Oceania Tango Championship Preliminary will earn the right to represent the Oceania region and compete directly in the semi-final rounds of the Tango Dance World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Last year, more than 600 couples competed in the preliminary qualifying rounds across all regions worldwide, highlighting the global reach and competitive spirit of this event.

Supervision and Adherence to Rules

The Oceania Tango Congress & Championship Preliminary will be supervised by an official auditor appointed by the Office of Festival and Central Events of the City of Buenos Aires and the Tango BA Dance World Cup. The auditor will oversee the operation of the championship, ensuring that all categories (official and non-official) adhere to the rules and regulations correctly.
