Introduction to Stage Tango Course! Get ready to dive into the dramatic world of tango performance, where you will master choreography, performance techniques and passion on the stage.

Important Partner Requirement:
To ensure the best learning experience, you must enrol with a partner. Stage tango requires deep connection and familiarity, which is best achieved through consistent partnerships. This will allow you to move at a personalised pace and work on your performance outside of class. If you don’t have a partner, let us know ASAP – we will try to match you, though availability isn’t guaranteed.


Course Overview:
This course is designed to introduce you to the world of Introductory Stage Tango, focusing on technique, movement & choreography. Over six weeks, you will develop the key skills needed for stage tango, including posture, embrace, walking, dramatic movement & partner connection, with an emphasis on performance quality. By the end of the course, you will have learned & refined a short, stage-ready choreography.

Week 1: Fundamentals of Stage Tango

  • Focus: Posture, embrace & strong tango walks.

  • Choreography: Learn a foundational sequence with walks & transitions.

Week 2: Crosses, Boleos & Lapices

  • Focus: Master precise crosses, boleos & lapices.

  • Choreography: Integrate dynamic footwork into choreography.

Week 3: Contra-Body Movement & Extension

  • Focus: Rotational control & dramatic body extensions.

  • Choreography: Incorporate contra-body movements & extensions.

Week 4: Musical Interpretation & Dramatic Moves

  • Focus: Spins, giros, calesitas & colgadas.

  • Choreography: Add musicality & dramatic flair to choreography.

Week 5: Partner Work & Synchronisation

  • Focus: Refine partner connection, poses & dips.

  • Choreography: Enhance partner work with poses & fluid transitions.

Week 6: Performance Polish

  • Focus: Lift exercises & polishing choreography.

  • Choreography: Rehearse full choreography with attention to stage presence & timing.


Certification: Receive a certificate of completion, which qualifies you for advanced courses & future stage tango opportunities.
